
Estonians living abroad participated in league matches across five different countries today. Karl Hein conceded five goals in La Liga, while Mattias Käit recorded his first assist of the season in Romania. Additionally, Paskotsi contributed to his Grasshopper team securing a point against a strong Servette side in the Swiss Super League.
La Liga, Spain
In Spanish La Liga match the Estonian national team goalkeeper Karl Hein today conceded five goals as his team, Real Valladolid, endured a significant defeat away to Villarreal, losing 1-5. Hein faced eight shots on target and managed to save three of them.
He has played in all 22 league matches for Valladolid this season; however, the team is currently in last place in La Liga with 15 points, six points behind Alavés, who are just above the relegation zone.
Super Liga, Romania
In the Romanian Super Liga, Mattias Käit notched his first assist of the season, but it wasn’t enough to help FC Rapid București secure a point against league leaders FC Cluj Universitate, as they lost 1-2. The Estonian midfielder played the entire match and assisted on Tobias Christensen’s goal in the 35th minute, which temporarily equalized the score at 1-1.
This marked Käit’s 14th appearance of the season as Rapid București currently sits in 6th place in the league table with 35 points, just six points behind second-place Dinamo București.
Bundesliga, Germany
In the German Bundesliga St. Pauli who are still without the injured Estonian national team defender Karol Mets today played a 1-1 draw at home against Augsburg. Mets has not participated in any matches for St. Pauli since November 9, when they lost to Bayern Munich.
Currently, St. Pauli is in 13th place in the Bundesliga table, with 21 points accumulated after 20 games.
Regionalliga, Germany
In Regionalliga action, talented attacking player Patrik Kristal made his second appearance for the 1. FC Köln second team, which suffered a 0-2 defeat against the Fortuna Düsseldorf second team. This was the 17-year-old Kristal’s first full match for the club, which now sits in 7th place in the league with 31 points from 20 games.
Super League, Switzerland
Maksim Paskotsi played a full match for the second consecutive game in the Swiss Super League, helping Grasshoppers earn a 1-1 draw against Servette, who are in contention for the league title. The 22-year-old Estonian defender made his 15th league appearance this season, and Grasshoppers now sit in 10th place in the table with 20 points from 21 games.
Super League 2, Greece
Aleksandr Šapovalov started for Niki Volos in the Greek second division and played 60 minutes in a goalless draw against Makedonikos. The 21-year-old winger has made 13 appearances for his club this season, scoring four goals. Niki Volos is currently in 6th place in the Greek Super League 2 North table with 21 points, five points behind Kampaniakos, who are in 5th place. Securing 5th place would allow them to continue the fight for promotion to the Greek Super League.
