Lithuanian star Gvidas Gineitis earned his second start in the last three games for Torino in Italian Serie A as they played a 1:1 draw against Verona. Meanwhile, Justas Lasickas and his Olimpija Ljubljana team are moving closer to securing the Slovenian league title.

The 20-year-old Gineitis scored the game-tying goal against Lazio last week, marking his third goal of the season in Serie A. Today, the Torino manager gave him his tenth start of the season as they faced Verona.

After a slow first half, the second half became more exciting. First, Torino’s Scottish forward Che Adams had a penalty saved by Verona’s goalkeeper. Just two minutes later, Verona took the lead with a goal from Amin Sarr. However, Torino quickly equalized when North Macedonian star Elif Elmas scored his fourth goal of the season.

For the remaining 30 minutes, neither team managed to score, resulting in both teams sharing the points. Gineitis played 63 minutes before being substituted as he also received a yellow card in the second half. He has now made 24 league appearances this season for Torino, who are currently in 10th place in the league table with 40 points after 31 games. Their next match is scheduled for Sunday against Como.

In the Slovenian Prva Liga, Justas Lasickas played a full match to help NK Olimpija Ljubljana secure a 2:0 win against NK Primorje. The Lithuanian defender had previously scored in the Slovenian Cup quarter-final against lower league side Beltnci, marking his 100th appearance for the club. This season, he has made 21 league appearances, scoring once and providing two assists. Following this victory, Olimpija Ljubljana increased their lead in the league over Pijus Širvys’s Maribor to 12 points. Maribor, missing Širvys today, suffered a surprising 0:1 defeat against Domžale. Olimpija’s next match will be on Wednesday when they host Koper.

Meanwhile another Lithuanian in Slovenia – Artemijus Tutyškinas played a full match for NK Celje, helping his team to a 2:1 victory against Bravo. Celje, who played without the injured Armandas Kučys, have now won four consecutive games across all competitions. The 21-year-old Tutyškinas has made nine appearances for Celje since joining from Polish side LKS Lodz in January. After this win, Celje moved up to 4th place in the league table with 45 points, just two points behind third-place Koper. Celje’s next match will be on Thursday when they host Fiorentina in the UEFA Conference League quarter-finals.

In the Polish second division, 24-year-old Titas Milašius was an unused substitute for Pogon Siedlce in their 1:1 draw against LKS Lodz. This season, the Lithuanian midfielder has made 20 appearances for Pogon, scoring one goal. His team currently sits in 17th place in the league table with 16 points.
