Lithuanian national team striker Armandas Kučys has reportedly attracted the attention of Serbian giants Crvena Zvezda, according to Slovenian outlet Planet Nogomet.
The report claims that newly appointed Crvena Zvezda head coach Albert Riera is interested in bringing Kučys to Belgrade. The Spanish coach knows the Lithuanian striker extremely well, having previously worked with him at NK Celje.
Kučys made 30 appearances under Riera at Celje, scoring an impressive 18 goals. Their previous working relationship is reportedly one of the main reasons behind the Serbian champions’ interest in the 23-year-old forward.
According to Planet Nogomet, a potential transfer could be worth slightly more than €1 million.
Crvena Zvezda would represent a step up in terms of club stature for Kučys, although the Serbian side is yet to secure a place in the UEFA Europa League group stage. They are set to face Viktoria Plzeň in the playoff round.
Meanwhile, Celje have already secured their place in the Europa League and still have a chance of reaching the UEFA Champions League. To do so, they must overcome Slovan Bratislava in the Champions League playoff round.
Kučys remains under contract with NK Celje until June 2028.
