In the Premium Liiga, FCI Levadia continued their perfect start to the season with a 2-1 away victory against FC Kuressaare, scoring both goals late in the match. Meanwhile, FC Flora Tallinn secured their fourth consecutive win by defeating Tartu JK Tammeka 2-1, thanks to two goals from 18-year-old Maksim Kalimullin.
Curro Torres, the Manager of the Month for March, made several changes to the starting lineup for this match – Frank Liivak, Ernest Agyiri, and Ahmad Gero returned to the lineup after one game absence, while Tanel Tammik made his first start since March 15. Additionally, Slovenian Til Mavretic featured in the starting XI for the first time this season. Kuressaare, having lost to Tallinna Kalev, also made four changes to their lineup, with Otto-Robert Lipp earning his first start of the season.
Levadia dominated from the opening whistle, but despite taking 12 shots in the first half, they found themselves down at halftime. A free kick awarded near the corner flag was cleared by Levadia’s defense, but only momentarily. Otto-Robert Lipp retrieved the ball in the box and passed it to Demidov, who scored his second goal of the season, giving Kuressaare a surprising lead.
In the second half, Levadia applied significant pressure on Kuressaare’s goal, but the visitors held firm until the 80th minute. Then, in a moment of fortune for Levadia, Bubacarr Tambedou scored with a header from inside the penalty area, beating goalkeeper Karl-Romet Nõmme to equalize at 1:1.
With time still remaining, Levadia sought a winning goal as Kuressaare continued to defend resolutely. It seemed that Kuressaare might secure a valuable point against the champions, but in the fourth minute of additional time, Edgar Tur emerged as Levadia’s hero. He scored with a header from a sharp angle, sealing a dramatic 2:1 victory.
Levadia continues its perfect season, winning all six of its league games, while Kuressaare suffers its fourth consecutive defeat.
