Darko Lemajić scoops up first Player of the Month award of the season

FC RFS striker Darko Lemajić was voted by the Latvian media as Player of the Month for March, narrowly edging past Barthélemy Diedhiou of BFC Daugavpils.

In a monthly vote for Player of the Month, representatives of Latvian sports media selected FC RFS veteran striker Darko Lemajić (31) as the one who stood out the most during March. Serbian attacker played 4 games during the month, scoring 4 out of RFS’s 9 goals as his team had gone on to be the only undefeated Virslīga side. This is his ninth season playing in Latvia, having spent the first three seasons with Riga FC before switching over to RFS.

The vote, which is organised by the Virslīga press office, included representatives of the media as well as popular votes on Instagram and on Facebook and votes from the Virslīga itself and the Latvian Football Federation. Lemajić gathered 50 total points, narrowly edging past Barthélemy Diedhiou of BFC Daugavpils, who collected 47. Matheus dos Santos Clemente of FK Auda came in third with 27 points.
