About Livonia Cup

The Livonia Cup (Estonian: Liivimaa karikas, Latvian: Livonijas Kauss) is an international friendly football competition organised by the Estonian Football Association and the Latvian Football Federation. It is contested by the reigning champions of the Premium liiga and the Virslīga.

Originally conceived of by the Estonian Football Federation to help foster competitiveness in the region, the first ever Livonia Cup was played for in 2003 between Skonto FC and FC Flora. Skonto won on penalties 10-9 following a 2-2 regular time draw.

To date, Livonia Cup has been contested 8 times – in 2003-2005, 2008, 2011, 2018, 2023 and 2024. The competition was suspended after 2018 but restored in 2023. The trophy that used to be awarded to Livonia Cup winners dated back to pre-WW2 times and was of unknown origin. In 2023, a new trophy was created by Jānis Burmeisters.

FC Flora and the now-defunct Skonto FC share the honours for most titles won, standing at three each.
