LFF has announced that this year’s Latvian Super Cup final will take place at LNK Sporta Parks on the 1st of March between Latvian champions RFS and vice-champions Riga FC.
In the 2024 edition, it was Riga FC who came out victorious in the final. During the first half, Žiga Lipušček headed RFS into the lead, however, Gauthier Mankenda was able to draw level in the 70th minute of the match, meaning the game advanced to penalties, from which Riga FC were able to come out victorious.
Following the announcement, LFF president Vadims Ļašenko was quoted saying:
We are looking forward to the start of the new football season with great joy! The Super Cup is becoming an important tradition in Latvian football, and I am confident that this year it will also provide exciting emotions for both the players and the fans. I wish everyone an exciting start of the season, as well as a beautiful football atmosphere in this Riga Derby.
This will become only the third-ever Latvian Super Cup final, the first one dating back to 2013 when Daugavpils “Daugava” defeated “Skonto” 4:1 in the final and claimed the trophy.
