In the Romanian Super Liga, Estonian national team midfielder Mattias Käit returned to the field yesterday, scoring a goal that helped Rapid București secure a 1:1 draw against CFR Cluj.

Käit had missed the previous league match against Dinamo București due to a mild concussion sustained during their Romanian Cup victory on April 2nd. Yesterday, the 26-year-old was back in the starting lineup for the first time in the league since March 16th.

CFR Cluj took an early lead in the 7th minute, but Kait equalized in the second half. He made a great run into free space and was beautifully set up by his teammate Claudiu Petrila. This gave Käit a one-on-one opportunity against the goalkeeper, which he successfully converted.

This marked Käit’s second goal of the league season. He played a total of 79 minutes before being substituted and received a yellow card in the first half.

With Käit on the bench for the final moments, Rapid București held on to the draw and remains 6th in the Championship Group league table with 28 points. The leaders, FCSB, are eight points ahead. Rapid’s next match is on Saturday, when they will host Universitatea Cluj.
