In today’s match in the Dutch Eerste Divisie, Dario Šits scored his sixth goal of the season, but it wasn’t enough to prevent a heavy defeat for Helmond Sport against VVV Venlo, with a final score of 1-4.
The 21-year-old forward started in his third consecutive league game. Helmond Sport faced VVV Venlo in an away match, having previously beaten them 3-0 earlier in the season.
However, today’s game unfolded differently. At halftime, Helmond was trailing just 0-1, but the situation took a turn for the worse at the beginning of the second half when Amir Absalem received a straight red card, leaving Helmond with ten players on the field. Venlo capitalized on this advantage, scoring three goals within a span of 19 minutes to extend the lead to 0-4.
At the end of the match, Dario Šits managed to score a consolation goal for Helmond. He received the ball right at the edge of the box and, with a precise shot into the bottom right corner, secured his sixth goal of the season.
In his first full professional season, Dario has made 20 appearances in the Dutch Eerste Divisie, scoring six goals and providing three assists.
With 45 points from 34 games, Helmond Sport is currently in 12th place in the league table. They have four matches remaining in the season, with their next game scheduled for Friday when they will host Cambuur.
