Bogdan Lukashenko, one of MFA Žalgiris coaches, is leaving the team after more than two years.

In a touching announcement on their home page and social media, MFA Žalgiris bid farewell to one of their coaches – Ukrainian Bogdan Lukashenko. Crediting the coach with significant contributions to the development of both the squad and the academy, the club wished him luck in future endeavours without disclosing the reason for cessation of collaboration.

Bogdan Lukashenko, himself a Ukrainian national, spent all of his playing career in lower league Estonian clubs, having last played for the III liiga North (5th tier) side FC Ararat Tallinn in 2020, where he was a player-manager from 2017.

Commenting on his departure to official club media, Bogdan summed up time spent with the club:

I can describe these two years as development! Both the players, the entire academy, and I as a coach have improved. I was happy and still remember with a smile many victorious moments, and at the same time I was sad about the rare failures. It was a great pleasure for me to work and develop this club, where perhaps the best young talents of Lithuania train.
