Today in the Italian Serie B, Lithuanian goalkeeper Marius Adamonis achieved his second consecutive clean sheet in just his second start for FC Sudtirol, helping them secure a 2-0 victory against Reggiana.
The 27-year-old goalkeeper joined Sudtirol on loan from Catania in January. In his first two games, he sat on the bench. Last week, however, he made his debut as a starter and played a crucial role in Sudtirol’s 3-0 win away against Frosinone, where he made two saves.
Today’s match proved to be more challenging for Adamonis. He made two outstanding saves that helped maintain Sudtirol’s advantage. Despite Reggiana dominating possession, Sudtirol capitalized on their opportunities, securing goals from Pyyhtia and Pietrangeli, marking their second victory in a row, largely thanks to Adamonis’ performance.
Sudtirol last won two league games in a row at the start of the season when they won their first two league matches.
Since Adamonis joined the team, they have improved significantly; they were eight points adrift of safety before his arrival but are now only two points behind 15th-place Cittadella, which would secure their spot in Serie B.
Sudtirol’s next match will be on February 9th, where they will face Cremonese, who currently sit 4th in the league table.
