A Lyga side FA Šiauliai have made it three announcements in as many days, confirming that Serbian full-back Marko Mandić has signed a contract extension that will keep him at the club until the end of the 2026 season.
Earlier this week, the Šiauliai club revealed that Jurģis Pučinsks, a Latvian coach, will take charge of the team, replacing Dainis Kazakevičs, while yesterday it was announced that Portuguese midfielder Benny would stay on for another year. Today’s update concerns one of the team’s most consistent performers – 26-year-old right-back Mandić.
In his first season with Šiauliai, Mandić became a regular starter, featuring in 33 matches, all from the first minute, and recording three assists. FA Šiauliai finished the A Lyga campaign in fifth place.
Reflecting on the new deal, Mandić shared his appreciation for the club and its supporters:
“I really enjoyed playing for Šiauliai. Even though the season didn’t go exactly as we expected and we didn’t reach all our goals, we fought until the last minute. The atmosphere in the team was great – there was unity in the dressing room, and everyone gave their best for the club and the city.” the full-back said.
“I’m happy to have extended my contract and to keep being part of this team. I’m grateful to the management for their trust and to the fans for their constant support – it meant a lot throughout the season. I’m confident that we’ll be even stronger next season, and I’ll always give 100 percent on the pitch.”
Before joining FA Šiauliai, Mandić spent several seasons in Serbia’s second division, and also had spells in the top leagues of Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
