Harju Laagri and Kuressaare shared the points in a goalless draw to open the 29th round of the Premium Liiga, bringing an end to the remarkable run of high-scoring matches between the two sides this season. Their previous three meetings had all finished 3-2 in Kuressaare’s favour, but this time neither team could find a breakthrough.
Harju entered the match without Marten Kelement, who scored both goals in last weekend’s impressive 2-1 victory over Paide but missed Friday’s game through illness. Kaspar Rõõmussaar was also unavailable, while Reinhard Reimaa returned to the starting XI and wore the captain’s armband. Kuressaare made only one change following their 1-3 defeat against Tammeka, with Roland Lukas replacing Sander Sinilaid in midfield.
The hosts enjoyed more of the initiative during a quiet opening half. Assale twice tried his luck from outside the penalty area, forcing Karl-Romet Nõmm into a save with his second effort, while Hugo Palutaja sent a dangerous low ball across the face of goal without finding a teammate. Harju were forced into an early change when Kesa, who had hurt his shoulder in a challenge, eventually had to leave the pitch in the 38th minute.
Kuressaare did not register their first attempt until the 40th minute, when Deivid Andreas tested Jan Vainula with a free-kick from distance. Moments later, Johann Vahermägi was booked for bringing down Binate before Palutaja’s resulting free-kick flashed dangerously across goal. Kuressaare came closest just before the break when a cross from the right threatened to drop inside the far post, forcing Vainula to intervene.
The second half offered slightly more attacking intent but still very little in the way of clear chances. Andreas again forced Vainula into action after a Jürisoo free-kick had struck the wall, while at the opposite end Nõmm produced a good save to keep out an effort from outside the box. Binate remained one of Harju’s most active attacking players and drew another booking after getting beyond Marco Lukka.
Harju increased the pressure as the match entered its final stages. Palutaja’s left-footed strike from outside the penalty area was pushed away by Nõmm, while substitute Rudenko fired narrowly wide. Assale also carried the ball into the penalty area but could not produce the required finish, with Kuressaare continuing to hold firm.
The hosts came close again in the closing minutes when Rudenko’s corner found Kaspar Laur, whose effort took a deflection and went narrowly wide. Kuressaare goalkeeper Nõmm was booked in the aftermath, but his side survived the resulting pressure. At the other end, Kuressaare finally threatened in stoppage time when Visse’s powerful effort forced Vainula into a save.
Neither side could produce a decisive moment, however, as the match finished 0-0. After Kuressaare had won all three previous meetings between the teams this season by the same 3-2 scoreline, their fourth and final Premium Liiga encounter of the campaign produced the complete opposite, with both goalkeepers keeping clean sheets.
