FK Liepāja have officially announced that Swedish head coach Andreas Alm has left the club by mutual agreement due to reasons unrelated to football.
The announcement ends Alm’s short spell in Latvian football after arriving at the club during the summer of 2025. During his time in charge, Liepāja played 42 official matches under the 52-year-old coach, recording 21 wins, seven draws and 14 defeats.
In the official club statement, Alm thanked the club and reflected positively on his time in Liepāja.
“Sometimes unexpected things happen in life, but together with the club we spent more time than originally planned when I arrived last summer. There are so many wonderful and warm-hearted people at this club. I want to thank the staff for their responsiveness and support, the players for their commitment, and the president for trusting me and inviting me here to work. The club is ready for future victories, and I will never forget our crazy medal celebrations last autumn,” Alm stated.
FK Liepāja also thanked the Swedish specialist for his contribution during his time at the club, highlighting his role in helping develop younger players and assisting the club in returning to European competition.
Alm arrived in Latvia with a strong Scandinavian coaching resume. Before joining Liepāja, he worked at clubs such as AIK, Häcken, Odense BK, Norrköping and Vejle BK.
Under Alm, Liepāja secured a top-three finish in 2025 and qualified for European competition, but the 2026 season has proven far more difficult. After 15 rounds of the Virslīga season, Liepāja sit fifth in the table with 19 points, already 21 points behind league leaders RFS and 12 points behind third-placed Auda.
The club’s next match comes immediately, with Liepāja set to host FK Tukums 2000 on Friday.
