The 17th round of the Tonybet Virslīga wrapped up with a nail-biting finish as reigning Latvian champions RFS snatched a 2–1 win over SK Super Nova. Down early in the match, RFS claimed all three points in stoppage time thanks to a 14th goal of the season from league top scorer Darko Lemajić.

The game began with immediate action. In just the 3rd minute, RFS’s Serbian target man Lemajić had a clear chance, but it was Super Nova who struck first. In the 7th minute, following a corner routine, RFS goalkeeper Sergejs Vilkovs failed to clear the cross convincingly, allowing Japanese midfielder Ryuga Nakamura to fire in from 14 meters—his third goal of the campaign.

RFS responded with several chances. Although the pressure wasn’t overwhelming, the equalizer eventually came in the 32nd minute. Senegalese midfielder Mor Talla Gaye curled a brilliant effort from the edge of the box into the far corner to make it 1–1—his sixth goal of the season.

The turning point of the game happened just a minute into the second half, Super Nova were reduced to 10 men when Ralfs Šitjakovs received his second yellow for stepping on Stefan Panić’s foot in the opposing half.

Despite being a man up, RFS struggled to convert their chances. Veisbuks came up big, saving shots from Gaye and twice denying Jānis Ikaunieks and Darko Lemajić could not hit the target from up close. But in the fourth minute of added time, the breakthrough finally arrived. Dmitrijs Zelenkovs delivered a ball into the box, and Lemajić pounced, slotting it home off the post from close range to seal the 2–1 win.

The victory marked RFS’s fourth in a row and snapped Super Nova’s six-match unbeaten streak.
