In the TOPsport A Lyga match on the first day of Matchday 9, FA Šiauliai continued their unbeaten streak, securing a narrow victory against FC Džiugas Telšiai thanks to a late first-half goal by Milan Djokic. This result ended Džiugas’ three-game winning streak.

FC Džiugas manager Andrius Lipskis, whose team had been performing well and was sitting in third place in the league table after eight matches, made three changes to the starting lineup. David Martin, Vilius Piliukaitis, and Oleksandr Kurtsev returned to the starting eleven. Meanwhile, Šiauliai’s Dainis Kazakevičs made two changes, introducing Karolis Zebrauskas for his first start of the season and bringing Estonian Nikita Komissarov back into the lineup.

The only goal of the game came at the end of the first half. Players from Šiauliai executed a well-coordinated one-two pass, leading to a mishit shot that landed in front of the goal. Milan Djokic reacted quickly to the loose ball and simply tapped it into an empty net, making the score 1-0.

In the second half, both teams struggled to create significant scoring opportunities as their defenses held strong. Toward the end of the match, Džiugas found one of their few chances to equalize, but the Šiauliai goalkeeper made an impressive save, securing his second clean sheet of the season.

With this victory, Šiauliai extended their unbeaten streak to five games, dating back to March 29 when they lost to FK Kauno Žalgiris. This win allowed Kazakevičs’ team to move up to third place in the league table, while Džiugas, having seen their three-game winning streak come to an end, are now tied on points with Šiauliai.
