In the first match of the TOPsport A Lyga matchday 5, FK Sūduva’s Nigerian striker Idris Momoh scored his first goal of the season, leading his team to a 1:0 victory over the winless DFK Dainava Alytus.
Sūduva has started the season strong, securing three wins out of their first four league matches. In contrast, Dainava Alytus has struggled, remaining winless with three losses and one draw.
Sūduva manager Vencevičius decided to maintain the same starting lineup as in their previous game against Džiugas Telšiai, while Dainava’s manager Kuznetsov made four changes to his starting eleven. Ukrainian Ivan Koshkosh and Dutch midfielder Koen Oostenbrink returned to the lineup, alongside Dominyk Kodz and Davor Rakic, who made their first starts of the season.
Sūduva confirmed their favorite status by taking the lead in the first half. Zygimantas Baltrunas delivered an excellent pass from the left side into the box, finding an unmarked Idris Momoh who making a run in the free space. The striker capitalized on this opportunity, scoring from close range to give Sūduva a 1:0 lead.
In the second half, Sūduva aimed to secure their fourth victory of the season. However, Dainava’s goalkeeper put in a determined performance to keep the scoreline close. Late in the match, Dainava applied pressure in hopes of equalizing. A notable chance fell to a 20-year-old Bosnian striker, but his shot was saved by Ignas Plūkas.
Despite their efforts, Dainava was unable to secure even a point, suffering their fourth defeat in the first five league games and remaining at the bottom of the table. Meanwhile, Sūduva climbed to the top of the table with 12 points after five matches.
In their next game, Sūduva will face FK Kauno Žalgiris away on Saturday, while DFK Dainava Alytus will look to end their losing streak against FC Hegelmann on the same day.
