According to our sources, Virslīga club FK Liepāja has signed 22-year-old Swiss forward Tresor Samba. A graduate of the FC Basel academy. He has already arrived in Latvia and underwent medical tests yesterday. Tresor Samba was born in Zurich, Switzerland, and played prominently in the FC Basel club system until 2021.
In 2021, he had a standout season, scoring 17 goals in 18 matches for FC Basel’s reserve team in the Swiss third division. However, instead of moving to FC Basel’s first team, his career took him to AC Bellinzona in the Swiss second division, where he recorded 16 goals and 8 assists in 75 matches.
Samba was brought to Thun last summer with high expectations and was given a two-year contract with an option for an additional season. In the current season, he has scored one goal and provided one assist in 17 Challenge League games, starting in the lineup nine times.
Tresor Samba has also played four matches for the Swiss U20 national team against Denmark, Australia, Italy, and Bosnia, scoring a goal against Bosnia.
Recently, FK Liepāja announced their preseason schedule. On January 18, they will play against FC Džiugas in Liepāja, and on January 24, they will face FK Banga. FK Liepāja will travel to a training camp in Turkey on January 26.
