FK Grobiņa has announced the departures of six of its players, including rising talents and established fixtures in the team. Here’s a closer look at each of the players leaving:

Rūdolfs Meļķis, the 20-year-old right-back, has been a key defensive presence for FK Grobiņa this season. His performance in the first half of the Virsliga campaign has seen him featured in every match, often playing the full 90 minutes, and contributing with vital defensive coverage. Meļķis has appeared in 35 matches, starting 30 times.

The 20-year-old centre-back, Kārlis Mikuļskis, who had been training with FC RFS, has also announced his departure. Mikuļskis featured in 25 games, starting in 24 and was regularly seen in the backline of FK Grobiņa. Mikuļskis and Ulimbaševs, of FK Metta, shared the most yellow cards earned last season – 12.

Markuss Kruglaužs, the towering 22-year-old striker, has also parted ways the club. Kruglaužs featured in 30 matches for FK Grobiņa, often used as a target man due to his height and physical presence. With 11 starting appearances, Kruglaužs also proved to be a valuable substitute option, particularly in games where FK Grobiņa needed to break down the opposition defense.

The experienced 28-year-old centre midfielder, Ingars Sarmis Stuglis, is another player leaving FK Grobiņa. He joined the team mid-way through the season from Norwegian side HIF/Stein. Stuglis featured in 10 matches, starting in 6 of them.

Veterans Raimonds Sāmietis and Roberts Pirktiņš are both departing. Raimonds Sāmietis, age 40, made 6 appearances in Latvia’s Virslīga, providing 2 assists, playing only 51 minutes in total. Raimonds was known for his long throw-ins. Roberts Pirktiņš, age 36, has been with the club since January 2016. The defensive midfielder made 4 appearances in the Virslīga, accumulating 105 minutes on the field.
