Super Nova claimed their first-ever victory over Jelgava on Saturday, with former Jelgava player Agris Glaudāns scoring the only goal in an important 1-0 away win in Virslīga Matchday 29.

The visitors made the brighter start and carried more attacking threat during the opening stages, although they struggled to turn that pressure into a goal. Ivans Patrikejevs tested Adam Dvorak in the 11th minute, while several other promising Super Nova attacks were stopped by offside calls.

Jelgava gradually worked their way into the contest later in the first half. Jegors Novikovs tried his luck from distance, while Miloš Pudil headed wide from a Glebs Žaleiko cross. At the other end, Patrikejevs again went close in the 35th minute, first seeing one effort blocked before forcing Dvoržāks into a save with the follow-up.

The second half followed a similar pattern, with Super Nova creating the more dangerous opportunities. Amadou Samate had an effort blocked shortly after the restart, while Valerijs Lizunovs threatened several times with headers and shots around the penalty area.

Jelgava had their own chances, most notably through Novikovs and Filip Hašek from distance, while Pudil headed wide from a set piece in the 68th minute. Neither side could find the breakthrough as the match moved into its closing stages.

Super Nova eventually made their pressure count in the 84th minute. Substitute Agris Glaudāns, who had entered the match only six minutes earlier, found space in the centre of the penalty area after a pass from Eduards Emsis and calmly finished into the bottom-left corner to make it 1-0 against his former club.

Jelgava were unable to respond in the remaining minutes, and Super Nova held on for a historic victory. The result was Super Nova’s first win against Jelgava and also lifted them above their opponents in the Virslīga table, moving them into sixth place.
