Latvian centre-back Oskars Vientiess completed another full 90 minutes for Teplice on Saturday, making it four consecutive starts since joining the Czech club, although his side suffered their first defeat of the season with a 1-4 away loss to Sparta Prague.

Sparta took control of the match early, racing into a 3-1 lead by half-time before adding a fourth goal in the 84th minute. Costa Rican forward Josimar Alcocer netted twice, while Tobias Guddal and Andrew Irving also found the scoresheet, with the only goal by Teplice coming from veteran Lukas Marecek who has already three goals this season.

Despite the defeat, Vientiess has quickly established himself as a regular in the Teplice starting line-up, playing every minute of the club’s opening four league matches. Before facing Sparta, Teplice had opened the campaign with two wins and a thrilling 5-5 stalemate against Viktoria Plzen last weekend.

Teplice, who finished 11th in the Czech top flight last season, will return to league action next Sunday when they host Zbrojovka Brno.
