FK Tukums 2000 continued their stunning turnaround in the Tonybet Virslīga with a second consecutive emphatic home victory, thrashing Ogre United 6-1 in the 11th round of the season.

The star of the night was once again Nigerian striker Joseph Ede Oloko, who scored four goals and now has 11 league goals in just nine appearances this season. It was already his second hat-trick campaign of the year, further cementing his status as one of the league’s most dangerous forwards.

Tukums came into the match full of confidence after finally securing their first win of the season in the previous round with a 5-0 demolition of FS Jelgava. Ogre United, meanwhile, were still recovering from the heartbreak of surrendering a two-goal lead in a dramatic 3-4 defeat against league leaders RFS.

Despite the eventual scoreline, the opening half hour gave little indication of the chaos to come. Both sides created a few half-chances, but the match remained relatively balanced until the 35th minute.

That was when Bogdans Samoilovs delivered a dangerous set-piece into the box, and Oloko rose highest to guide a header into the net for his eighth goal of the season.

Tukums doubled the lead just before halftime. After a short corner routine, Brazilian winger Leoni surprised goalkeeper Ņikita Parfjonovs with a powerful strike from a tight angle, putting the hosts firmly in control.

Oloko nearly added another early in the second half, only to be denied by Parfjonovs, but Tukums eventually found their third goal in the 68th minute. Samoilovs picked up his third assist of the evening with another excellent delivery from the right side, and Ruslans Deružinskis headed home from close range after completely losing his marker.

Ogre briefly gave themselves hope just minutes later when captain Kristers Čudars reduced the deficit to 3-1, but any thoughts of a comeback disappeared quickly as Oloko completely took over the final stages.

The 25-year-old striker first curled a superb left-footed effort into the far corner from the edge of the box before adding two more goals in stoppage time. One came after breaking behind the defence in a one-on-one situation, while the final goal arrived on another devastating counterattack to complete his four-goal performance.

The victory lifts Tukums from ninth place up to seventh in the standings with 11 points, while Ogre United remain bottom of the table with just three points and still searching for their first-ever Virslīga victory.

Tukums will look to continue their winning streak in four days away against Super Nova, while Ogre United face another difficult trip a day later against FK Liepāja.
