Lithuanian Football Federation confirmed dates for promotion/relegation play-off matches between A Lyga and Pirma Lyga. The first leg will be played on November 17th at 14:30 in Jonava and return on November 23rd at 15:00 in Marijampole.

FK Sūduva from the southern Lithuanian city of Marijampole culminated their 3-year downfall by barely avoiding automatic relegation this year and earning one final chance to remain in the Lithuanian top flight via the relegation play-offs against runners up of Pirma Lyga – FK Be1.

The second division side are a spin-off team from what used to be a Football Federation run Lithuanian National Football Academy based in Jonova, near Kaunas, ‘FK Be1’. Unlike their first tier opponents, Be1 have been consistently improving their fortunes over the past 3 years, finishing 4th, 2nd and 2nd since getting promoted out of the third division.

Be1 have a real chance to make history against struggling Sūduva, who played UEFA Conference League qualifiers as recently as last year. Should the three-time Lithuanian champions fail to overcome their ambitious opponents, this will mark their first absence from the top flight of Lithuanian football in 22 years.

Both matches will be available to enjoy via LRT.lt and alyga.lt portals.
