Vilnius Žalgiris have signed Nigerian forward Abdulrahman Sabiya on a deal until the end of the season, with an option to extend it by a further two years.
The 19-year-old joins after a successful trial and arrives with the Lithuanian season already under way. He has already made an early impression, scoring twice late on in the club’s final friendly against Ogre United as Žalgiris completed their preparations with a win.
Sabiya also featured for Žalgiris B in friendly matches against Panevėžys and TransINVEST reserves during his assessment period. Before moving to Vilnius, he spent time in Kosovo with Ballkani.
Last winter he signed his first professional contract with Saudi Pro League side Al-Najmah SC. He went on to play 13 matches for the club’s youth team before his move to Lithuania.
