Gargždai’s Banga climbed into the top three of the Toplyga after securing their second victory of the season in emphatic fashion. In the third round, returning to their home stadium, Banga crushed Riteriai 5-0.
The team coached by David Afonso effectively decided the outcome during a short spell in the first half. In the 15th minute, Natanas Žebrauskas celebrated his first goal with a powerful strike. Just two minutes later, Aaron Appiah doubled the lead after breaking away on a counterattack.
Banga struck again almost immediately. During another rapid attacking move, Misaki Sato made the most of his chance to score the third goal. The scoring surge continued in the 26th minute when, following a corner kick, Armandas Šveistrys inadvertently turned the ball into his own net.
After the break, the hosts’ attacking intensity eased somewhat, but they still managed to add another goal. In the 61st minute, Appiah beat Vasilije Radenović in midfield and calmly finished past goalkeeper Simone Moschin.
Late in the match, Ignas Venckus appeared to add a sixth goal, but after a VAR review the effort was disallowed.
