Panevėžys have confirmed that striker Ariagner Smith (27) will continue his career elsewhere, having opted to not renew his stay in Aukštaitija. The Nicaragua international departs as the most prolific player in Panevėžys history, having scored 42 goals across four seasons. The club said that talks had taken place over contract extension, but Smith chose a more lucrative offer overseas.

Smith played a key role in Panevėžys’ historic 2023 league title and was a standout performer in last year’s Lithuanian Cup triumph. He was part of the squad that won the Super Cup in 2024, although injury ruled him out for that campaign.

He recorded 30 goals and 15 assists in 94 appearances in the Toplyga, 11 goals in 9 matches in the Lithuanian Cup and 1 goal in 6 matches in the UEFA Europa Conference League qualifications.

I want to thank the club for believing in me over these last four years, the management, director Bronis Vaitiekūnas and the supporters for everything we shared,” Smith told the official club media. “I’m happy I was part of the club’s history. I’ll support the team from afar and I hope you achieve many victories. I’ll always carry you in my heart. Thank you very much.
