With the start of the Toplyga season fast approaching, FA Šiauliai have added another reinforcement to their squad. The club has reached an agreement with Serbian defender Lazar Vuković.
The 27-year-old arrives in Šiauliai from Bosnia and Herzegovina, where he spent the past six months playing in the country’s top division for Bijeljina-based Radnik. During his time there, Vuković made 11 appearances. Earlier in his career, he also represented Serbian sides Radnik, Inđija and Voždovac, as well as Bosnian clubs Alfa and Tekstilac.
Speaking after completing the move, Vuković admitted that his first impressions of Lithuania had been slightly unexpected.
“Well, before arriving I thought it would be warmer here than I initially imagined, but I’m starting to get used to it,” he said with a smile. “But seriously, I am very happy to join a club that has ambitions, and that is what motivated me the most. I can’t wait for the season to begin and to represent the yellow and black.”
He described a smooth integration into his new surroundings.
“The team welcomed me warmly from the very first day. The atmosphere in the dressing room seems very positive, so in such circumstances it is really not difficult to adapt. My main goal, of course, is to help the team as much as possible – both on the pitch and off it. I will give everything to justify every opportunity given to me by the coaching staff.”
FA Šiauliai will start their league campaign this Saturday when they will play against FK TransINVEST.
