Former FK Panevėžys midfielder Lucas de Vega will continue his career in Romania after signing a long-term contract with FC Botoșani.

The 26-year-old Brazilian, who came through Barcelona’s renowned La Masia academy, joined Panevėžys ahead of the 2024 season. Over two seasons with the Lithuanian club, de Vega made a total of 64 appearances.

Last season proved to be the most productive of his professional career. In 36 matches across all competitions, the midfielder scored eight goals and provided two assists, finishing as one of Panevėžys’ leading scorers, only behind Ariagner Smith.

De Vega also played a key role in the club’s Lithuanian Cup triumph, starting four matches during the cup run. Panevėžys lifted the trophy after a 1-0 victory over FC Hegelmann in the final.

Now moving on as a free agent, de Vega has agreed a two-and-a-half-year contract with FC Botoșani. His new club currently sit fifth in Romania’s top division, the Liga I, after 26 rounds, seven points behind league leaders Universitatea Craiova.
