Panevėžys have strengthened their defensive options by signing German-Serbian centre-back Milan Delević on a one-year contract.

The 27-year-old, born in Duisburg, developed in Germany before moving to Serbia in 2019. He went on to play for Zvezdara and Žarkovo in Belgrade, as well as Kolubara and Loznica, and also made his top-flight debut with IMT.

Delević arrived in Lithuania after spending the past 18 months in Estonia with Paide, where he helped the club win bronze and featured 10 times in UEFA Conference League qualifying.

Speaking to the club media, Delević said: “First of all, I liked the club’s ambitions and the fact it always fights for titles. I don’t really like to sum myself up as a player, but when I speak to people they say I’m a fighter and they enjoy watching that kind of football. The goal is clear. I think all the team-mates and the coaching staff want to fight for trophies and go as far as possible in Europe.

Panevėžys’ third pre-season friendly is scheduled for Saturday, 24 January, with Latvian side FS Jelgava visiting the Beržai School Stadium for a 14:00 kick-off.
