A Lyga club FC Džiugas Telšiai have announced a new addition to their squad, signing Irish centre-back Josh Okpolokpo.
The 22-year-old defender spent last season with Finnish top-flight side SJK, where he made one appearance for the first team, while gaining most of his playing time with the club’s reserve side.
A product of the Ipswich Town and Huddersfield Town academies, Okpolokpo has also had spells in the Slovenian second division with NK Triglav and in Romania’s Liga II with Concordia. In addition, the young defender has accumulated several seasons of experience in England’s non-league system.
FC Džiugas Telšiai finished the 2025 A Lyga season in seventh place and have undergone significant squad changes during the offseason. Local players Simonas Urbys, Martynas Vasiliauskas, and Karolis Šilkaitis have departed the club, along with foreign players goalkeeper Danylo Ryabenko, David Martin Anane, and Hirotaka Yamada.
Okpolokpo becomes Džiugas’ first foreign signing of the offseason, although the club has already retained and extended contracts with several existing overseas players ahead of the 2026 season.
