Žalgiris have strengthened their midfield with the signing of 21-year-old Croatian player Marko Capan.

Capan spent several years in the Hajduk Split system, having been with the club since 2020, and was a regular for Croatia’s youth national teams, often wearing the captain’s armband. He featured in the UEFA Youth League and captained Hajduk’s youth side during a notable run that included a March 2023 penalty shootout win over Borussia Dortmund, scoring his spot-kick.

The midfielder made his senior Hajduk debut in Croatia’s HNL in February 2023 and went on to play 11 first-team matches across three seasons, providing two assists. His last appearance for Hajduk came on 23 July 2025 in a UEFA Conference League fixture.

During the 2023-24 season he spent time on loan at Široki Brijeg in Bosnia and Herzegovina, making 24 appearances, scoring once and registering one assist.

Žalgiris sporting director Giedrius Klevinskas said the club were “extremely happy” to complete the deal, highlighting Capan’s professionalism, work ethic and potential. “We believe he can become an important part of our team and help both in the domestic league and in international matches,” he added.

Capan said he had felt welcome at the club and thanked fellow Croatian Petar Bosančić for his support. “I can’t wait to start preparations, to play for the club and fight for trophies,” he said.
