Lithuanian champions FK Kauno Žalgiris have announced a major reinforcement ahead of the next season, securing the signing of defender Joris Moutachy from league rivals FK Žalgiris. The 28-year-old, who spent the past two seasons in Vilnius, switches sides after the expiry of his contract.
The French-born Martinique international was a key figure for FK Žalgiris in his first A Lyga campaign in 2024. He played all 36 league matches, contributed four assists, and helped the team lift the league title. Across all competitions this season the right-back made 40 appearances, again providing four assists.
With his contract concluding at the end of 2025, Moutachy opted for a bold switch to FK Žalgiris’ main domestic rivals – newly crowned champions Kauno Žalgiris, who this year claimed their first-ever A Lyga title and will prepare for their maiden UEFA Champions League qualifying campaign next summer.
Before moving to Lithuania, Moutachy spent his entire professional career in France. He played three seasons in Ligue 2 with Chamois Niort, racking up 87 appearances in the French second tier. The defender also has seven appearances for Martinique National Team.
Moutachy becomes the first incoming signing for Kauno Žalgiris following the club’s championship triumph, arriving at a time of significant squad turnover. Several foreign players – Dejan Kerkez, Divine Naah, Temur Chogadze, and, as announced today, Haymenn Bah-Traoré – have departed after helping secure the historic title.
