A Lyga side FC Hegelmann announced today that their record transfer involving striker Abder Kader Njoya to Norwegian top-flight club Sandefjord will not go through.

Just a few days ago, Hegelmann had revealed that the 21-year-old Cameroonian was already in Norway undergoing medical tests, with the deal expected to bring the Lithuanian club €250,000 plus a percentage of any future transfer fee. However, the move collapsed, and Njoya has returned to Hegelmann.

According to the club, “The transfer window in Norway closed yesterday, September 2nd. After constructive discussions, all parties unanimously agreed that the transfer cannot be completed at this time.”

Norwegian media have speculated about the reasons behind the failed transfer, suggesting the striker might not have passed his medical, despite the fact that he has not missed a single game this year for Hegelmann. Njoya has been in excellent form this season, scoring 12 goals in 26 league matches.

On their Instagram account, the club reassured fans, stating: “The player remains an important part of our team and is ready to help the team in the upcoming, challenging part of the season.”

Following the international break, Hegelmann will return to action on September 14, when they travel to Šiauliai to face FA Šiauliai in a key A Lyga clash.
