In a rescheduled 21st-round clash of the Lithuanian A Lyga, Kauno rajono Hegelmann edged past FK Banga Gargždai 1-0 in a tense encounter on Wednesday evening. The decisive moment came in stoppage time of the first half, when Kader Njoya Abdel found the net, giving Andrius Skerla’s side a hard-fought away win.

The game began with both teams probing for openings. In the 21st minute, Vaidas Magdušauskas broke through after a slick pass from Aivaras Emsis, beating two defenders and unleashing a threatening shot that just missed. The visitors responded quickly, as Carlos Duke’s effort was blocked by Mantas Bertašius, and Njoya Abdel’s follow-up rattled the post.

As the first half drew to a close, chances continued to flow. Isaacas Barry Ojumah fired a dangerous effort that was saved by Vincentas Šarkauskas, while Matas Ramanauskas tested the defense with a strike from the edge of the box. However, it was Hegelmann who drew first blood: Klaudijus Upstas delivered a precise cross, and Njoya Abdel powered a header past the goalkeeper just before halftime.

Banga pushed for a response in the second half. In the 62nd minute, a well-constructed attack ended with Ukrainian midfielder Shchedryi’s shot comfortably saved. Despite their efforts, Banga couldn’t find an equalizer in the remaining minutes, ending their two-game winning streak, while Hegelmann bounced back strongly after unexpectedly dropping points against Dainava just three days earlier.

With this win, Hegelmann holds on to the second place in the table with 46 points, while Banga remains eighth with 28 points and will look to recover in their upcoming fixtures.
