FCI Levadia head coach Vjatšeslav Zahovaiko has urged supporters to turn up for Thursday’s UEFA Conference League QR1 qualifier despite his side taking a commanding 5-0 advantage into the second leg against Welsh Caernarfon Town.
Levadia’s emphatic away win in the first qualifying round has left the return in Tallinn looking one-sided on paper, and Zahovaiko suggested that could affect attendance. He also said Levadia’s players deserved a proper European-night atmosphere and promised to do his part to help generate interest. “When I go to sleep tonight, I’ll cross my fingers and tape them up so they can’t come loose. Then tomorrow we’ll hope that maybe people come,” he added.
Despite the comfortable margin, Zahovaiko insisted his team would approach the match as if it were starting from scratch. “We always respect our opponent, regardless of what level they play at,” he said. “The final score was of course very pleasing – scoring five away goals is always a positive emotion. We’ll take that good feeling with us, but tomorrow’s match starts at 0-0.”
Levadia versus Caernarfon kicks off at 19:30 local time at A Le Coq Arena in Tallinn. Upon progression, Levadia will face Swedish side Goteborg, who are currently third from bottom in the Allsvenskan, with 10 points from 12 matches.
