Latvian international midfielder Lūkass Vapne continued his strong form in Norway’s second division on Wednesday, scoring for the second time in his last three matches, although his Sogndal side were forced to settle for a 2-2 draw after letting a two-goal lead slip away.

The 22-year-old once again started in the lineup and wasted little time making an impact. Vapne opened the scoring already in the third minute to put Sogndal ahead early when he was all alone at the far post for a tap-in. It marked his second goal of the season and second in the last three games, having also found the net ten days earlier against Haugesund.

Sogndal doubled their advantage just four minutes later and appeared to be in full control during the opening stages. However, the visitors managed to pull one goal back before halftime after converting a penalty kick.

The momentum shifted further in the second half as the away side completed the comeback with another goal, eventually forcing Sogndal to share the points after neither team managed to find a winner in the closing stages.

Vapne played almost the full match before being substituted during stoppage time. The Latvian midfielder, currently in his second season in Norway, has now made eight league appearances this campaign while scoring twice.

Following the draw, Sogndal sit 10th in the 16-team league table with nine points from eight matches. Their next fixture comes already on Monday when they travel away to Sandnes.
