Sūduva moved up to third in Lithuania’s Toplyga after a 1-0 home win against Panevėžys in round 10.
The hosts started quickly in Marijampolė, with Faustas Steponavičius twice going close inside the opening moments, but both efforts were kept out by goalkeeper Vytautas Černiauskas.
The decisive moment came in the 19th minute. Sūduva won possession high up the pitch and, after passes from Steponavičius and Ibrahima Seck, Amadou Sabo finished into an unguarded net.
Sūduva threatened to extend the lead before the break when Seck hit the woodwork, while Panevėžys pushed harder after half-time. Salomonas Kouadio went closest to an equaliser as his powerful strike rattled the crossbar.
The result lifts Sūduva to 16 points, with Panevėžys staying sixth on 11.
