Latvia Under-21 midfielder Markuss Strods scored after just eight seconds on Friday, but Bohemians were beaten 3-1 by St Patrick’s Athletic in the Dublin derby in the League of Ireland Premier Division.
Strods struck almost straight from kick-off at Richmond Park in Inchicore, producing a composed finish past the home goalkeeper for his first top-flight goal. The 19-year-old also completed his first full 90 minutes in the division.
Bohemians’ early advantage, however, did not last. St Patrick’s levelled in the 10th minute before moving ahead late in the first half, and Bohemians were unable to recover as their winless run extended to seven matches.
Strods has now featured eight times in the league this season and has also provided two assists. He was on the scoresheet for Latvia’s Under-21 side in a 1-1 draw with Georgia in late March.
