Panevėžys’ winless run in Šiauliai stretched into the fourth year as they lost 3-1 in Toplyga’s ninth round, with FA Šiauliai claiming their first win of the season.
Both sides opened the game exchanging pressure. For Panevėžys, Strahinja Kerkez made a key block after Rokas Rasimavičius failed to clear, while at the other end Joel Bopesu’s dangerous set-piece delivery was dealt with by Paulius Linkevičius. Panevėžys did manage to go in front late in the first half when Elivelton was brought down in the area and Edvin Muratović converted the penalty.
Šiauliai responded strongly after the break and levelled in the 50th minute, Garbaliauskas heading in from a delivery from the left. Momentum then swung decisively as Panevėžys conceded a penalty, which Lazar Vukovič scored from the second attempt, before Rui Batalha brought an end to the proceedings with a late third goal.
