RFS striker Mamadou Sylla has been voted Tonybet Virslīga player of the month for July after scoring four goals in three appearances across two clubs.
The 20-year-old Ivory Coast forward began the month at Daugavpils and hit a hat-trick in a win over Liepāja, before returning to parent club RFS. He then added one more goal in two matches as RFS took seven points from three July fixtures, beating Jelgava and Tukums 2000 and drawing at home with Auda.
Sylla spent the first part of the season on loan at Daugavpils from RFS. This season the attacking player has made 21 Virslīga appearances scoring 6 goals.
The Latvian Football Federation (LFF) coaching council, working with the Latvian Higher League association, drew up the shortlist for the award. The final vote involved Latvian sports media representatives and supporters on Facebook and Instagram. The July nominees were Joseph Ede Oloko (Liepāja), Salah Oulad (Riga), Darko Lemajič (RFS), Mamadou Sylla (RFS), Valerijs Lizunovs (Super Nova) and Abdul Kader Traore (Daugavpils).
Riga head coach Adrián Guľa was named coach of the month by the LFF coaching council after guiding his side to two league wins in July, beating Jelgava 3-0 and Tukums 2000 3-1.
Guľa, who took over at Riga at the start of 2025 and led the club to the Virslīga title in his first season, has now won the monthly coaching award for a fourth time – twice in 2025 and for the second time in 2026.
