Levadia delivered a commanding display in front of 1039 fans in the first Tallinn derby of the Premium liiga season, sweeping aside Flora 4-0 to keep the pressure on Nõmme Kalju for the spot at the top of the table.
Bubacarr Tambedou got to work early, finishing confidently in the ninth minute after 18-year old Estonia U-21 international Maksimilian Skvortsov slipped a pass between the Flora defenders. Mark Oliver Roosnupp then doubled the lead at the half hour mark, putting Levadia firmly in control.
Defending Champions were immediately put under renewed pressure after the break as Levadia continued to find spaces with sharp passes and methodical build-up. Ainsalu set up Wendell for a third goal in the 54th minute, before Rasmus Peetson put an end to what was a disappointing display from Flora in the 74th minute.
Levadia did well to target Flora’s persistent weaknesses evident since the start of this season, and this bore exceptional fruit for them as they set both a club and a derby record with 4 unanswered goals against their city rivals. They have also equalled the goal difference result from 2021, when it was Flora who came out on top with a 5-1 win.
The win lifted Levadia to 15 points and, at least temporarily, into the second place. Flora, who have now suffered a fourth defeat of the campaign, sit fifth with questions over the future of head coach Vasiliev beginning to swirl once again.
