RFS booked their place in the Latvian Cup semi-finals with a 1-0 away win over Super Nova, settled by new signing Duje Korač’s first-half finish.

Super Nova started well at Jāņa Skredeļa stadions and went close early on when captain Mārcis Ošs met a corner but sent his effort wide. Valērijs Lizunovs then tested RFS goalkeeper Rihards Matrevics, who made a save.

RFS took the lead in the 20th minute as Niks Dusalijevs drove into the penalty area to assist newcomer Korač, with Croatian keeping his composure to aim the ball into the corner past Dāvis Veisbuks.

Super Nova continued to threaten on the break before half time, with Eduards Emsis forcing Matrevics into another stop, but RFS remained in the lead despite a competitive opening 45 minutes from the hosts.

Viktors Morozs’ side controlled more of the second half, albeit without creating many chances. Matrevics survived a scare in the 73rd minute when his attempted clearance was blocked and the ball almost looped back into his own goal.

Super Nova could not find an equaliser, and RFS joined Riga FC and BFC Daugavpils in the last four.
