Harju Laagri produced a ruthless first-half display to beat Paide Linnameeskond 5-2 at Laagri Stadium in the Premium liiga’s 20th round, punishing a visitors’ side arriving in buoyant mood after European action.
The hosts struck after 10 minutes when Daniil Rudenko’s corner was met by Kaspar Laur, playing his 200th league match, who headed in from close range. Harju doubled the lead four minutes later as Kristjan Kriis converted a penalty after former Harju player Kristofer Piht brought down Ramol Sillamaa inside the area.
Harju made it 3-0 in the 22nd minute from a long throw by Marten Hendrik Kelement, with Karel Eerme heading the ball into the net. Paide briefly responded when Henri Anier curled a shot into the far corner from outside the box, but Sillamaa restored the four-goal cushion with a long-range effort into the bottom corner.
Before the break, Harju struck again as Sillamaa played Abdul Binate through on goal and the forward finished one-on-one to make it 5-1. While the first half statistics might have suggested an even game, Harju were clinical, recording six shots on target to Paide’s two.
Paide had more of the initiative after the break, yet Harju continued to press rather than sit deep. The visitors’ changes only led to one clear breakthrough, with substitute Oskar Hõim winning a penalty on 66 minutes when he was fouled by Kriis. Anier scored from the spot to reduce the deficit to 5-2, but Harju saw out the closing stages without allowing the match to swing again.
