Latvia international Vladislavs Gutkovskis has become a free agent after Polish club Arka Gdynia were relegated from the Ekstraklasa.
Speaking to Sportacentrs.com, the 31-year-old striker revealed that a clause in his contract automatically terminated the agreement in the event of relegation. Gutkovskis is now evaluating his options on the transfer market, although he has not ruled out the possibility of remaining with Arka on a new deal.
The Latvian forward returned to Arka during the winter transfer window after leaving South Korean football. During the second half of the season he made 16 league appearances, scoring four goals and providing one assist.
Arka finished 17th in the 18-team Ekstraklasa with 36 points, suffering relegation to Poland’s second tier.
Gutkovskis also admitted that a knee problem caused by training overload has recently troubled him, putting his participation in Latvia’s upcoming Baltic Cup matches in doubt which will start on Saturday with a semifinal match against Lithuania in Kaunas
