Grobiņa say Corryn has no serious injuries after losing consciousness
Photo: Endija Petrauska Grobiņa attacking midfielder Milan Corryn has been cleared of serious health problems after losing consciousness during Monday’s 5-2 defeat by Riga, the club said. He is resting at home, and a return for the final-round derby against Liepāja has not been ruled out.
The Belgian was taken to hospital after collapsing shortly after play restarted in the 38th minute. He had been struck on the head in a challenge with Riga captain Antonijs Černomordijs, who was shown a yellow card. Grobiņa coach Oskars Kļava said after the match that Corryn had been in contact by text and that a concussion was suspected, with a jaw fracture considered the worst-case possibility.
The club said Corryn was feeling well and thanked the emergency medical team and staff from both clubs for their swift response. Rest and sleep are currently central to his recovery.
Grobiņa have 29 points from 34 matches and have secured their place in the Virsliga. They visit leaders RFS on Sunday, without suspended defenders Aleksa Jovanović and Krišjānis Rupeika, as well as injured Ivan Matjušenko. Corryn has scored five goals and provided three assists in 15 league appearances since joining from Belgium’s third tier this summer.
