Latvian midfielder Kristaps Grabovskis found the net in the Danish second tier on Saturday as Boldklubben af 1893 claimed an important 4-2 away victory over Middelfart Boldklub in their battle to avoid relegation.
The 20-year-old started the match and made an immediate impact, opening the scoring after just 20 seconds. The Latvian midfielder finished from the middle of the penalty area to give B.93 a dream start in what was a crucial match for their survival hopes.
B.93 doubled their advantage already in the sixth minute and looked in control early on, but Middelfart fought back before halftime by scoring twice to level the match at 2-2.
Grabovskis was substituted at the start of the second half, but his side regained control after the break, scoring twice within four minutes to secure a valuable 4-2 victory away from home.
The Latvian midfielder has now made 26 appearances for B.93 this season, recording two goals and two assists.
Despite the win, B.93 remain in a difficult position in the standings. With one round remaining, they are level on points with Hobro IK, who currently occupy the final safe spot above the relegation zone. However, Hobro still have two matches left to play and also hold the tiebreaker advantage over B.93 if the teams finish level on points.
That means any Hobro victory in their remaining matches would confirm B.93’s relegation to the Danish third tier. Grabovskis and his club will close out the season next Saturday at home against Aarhus Fremad.
