Flora’s Women’s Baltic League hopes were dealt a major blow after a heavy 5-0 defeat away to Gintra in Šiauliai, leaving the Estonian champions needing a win in their final regular-season match to qualify for the semi-finals.

Gintra’s Gracie Knutzen opened the scoring in the 19th minute, heading in from a corner. Seven minutes later, Laura Kubiliite doubled the lead and then added another in the 33rd minute to take full control of the fixture before the break.

Things did not improve for Estonians after the break as Gintra added a fourth with a long-range effort on their first attack of the second half. The hosts completed the rout in the final minute, with Sabrina Amorim scoring from another corner.

Flora now host Žalgiris next Saturday at 13:00, in a decisive fixture that will determine which side progresses to the semi-finals. Žalgiris will qualify with a draw, while Flora must win. If Flora fail to do so, both Estonian teams in the competition – Flora and Saku Sporting – will miss out on the last four for a second consecutive year.
