Lithuanian goalkeeper Marius Adamonis has become a free agent after Serie B club Südtirol announced the mutual termination of his contract, bringing his one-and-a-half-year spell with the Italian side to an end.

The 29-year-old goalkeeper was still under contract until the end of next season, but both parties agreed to end the deal early. Adamonis initially joined Südtirol on loan during the second half of the 2024/25 campaign, helping the club secure Serie B survival before making the move permanent.

Last season, he established himself as Südtirol’s first-choice goalkeeper, making 36 league appearances and keeping 10 clean sheets. In total, Adamonis featured 52 times for the club during his spell in Bolzano.

Although he was included in the squad for Südtirol’s opening competitive match of the new season in the Coppa Italia on 15 August, the starting role went to 26-year-old Alessandro Plizzari, who arrived on loan this summer from Serie A side Venezia.

Adamonis has earned one senior cap for the Lithuania national team and has spent virtually his entire professional career in Italy since joining Lazio ahead of the 2016/17 season. While he never made a first-team appearance for the Roman club, he went on to represent Salernitana, Catanzaro, Casertana, Perugia, Catania and, most recently, Südtirol.
