Panevėžys returned to winning ways in the 16th round of the TOPsport A Lyga, snapping a three-match winless streak with a composed 2–0 victory over bottom-placed DFK Dainava.
The first half saw Panevėžys pressing through a series of corners, while Dainava looked more threatening in open play. Artiom Baftalovskyi tested Vytautas Černiauskas with a dangerous shot, and Davor Rakić came close with a strike that went just wide.
The breakthrough came shortly after halftime. In the 50th minute, a quick counterattack led by Pavle Radunović found Ernestas Veliulis, who calmly chipped the ball over Airidas Mickevičius to give the hosts a 1–0 lead.
Panevėžys maintained control for the remainder of the match, defending compactly and limiting Dainava’s offensive efforts. Černiauskas had little to do as the home side shut down the visitors.
The win was sealed in stoppage time. In the 92nd minute, Faustas Steponavičius delivered a pinpoint corner, and Salomon Kouadio rose above the defense to head in the second goal, securing a much-needed three points.
With this result, Panevėžys climbs to 5th place in the league standings. Meanwhile, Dainava’s woes continue, as they remain winless after 16 matches and rooted at the bottom of the table.
