Henrique Devens scores brace as Žalgiris beat Sūduva

In the final match of Matchday 7 in the TOPsport A Lyga, FK Žalgiris comfortably defeated FK Sūduva 3-0. Žalgiris attacking player Henrique Devens scored two goals during the match.

Before this game, Žalgiris was four points behind Sūduva in the league standings. The defending champions had experienced their first defeat of the season in their previous league match, losing 0-2 to Šiauliai, while Sūduva had played to a goalless draw against FK Kauno Žalgiris.

Last season, these two teams met four times in the league, with three of the matches ending in a draw. The only match that didn’t end in a draw was won by Žalgiris, who triumphed 4-0. In today’s match, Žalgiris opened the scoring in the 26th minute when Motiejus Burba received a cross from Bruno Tavares and scored from close range against his former team, where he had been on loan last season.

In the second half, Žalgiris’ offseason signing Henrique Devens finally opened his account for the champions after joining from TRANSinvest, scoring two tap-ins to extend the lead to three goals.

With this victory, FK Žalgiris moved up to third place in the table, now just three points behind the leaders, Hegelmann, while Sūduva remains in second place, one point ahead of Žalgiris.
